James Mike's Story
Life
After Foothill I attended Bakersfield College and graduated with a degree in Industrial Electronics. I then got married to Nancy Jonas who had graduated from BHS. I attended Fresno State University and graduated with a degree in Industrial Electronics. We had our first child a son, John. My first employer was Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo where I worked for almost 7 years. In that time we had a daughter, Christi, and twin boys, Robert and Brian. We then moved back to Bakersfield where I worked for Superior Faming Company. In 1979 I started work for Continental Telephone Company and we had our last child, Scott. Continental Telephone Company changed their name to CONTEL and in 1991 merged with GTE. I was moved to Thousand Oaks and we lived in Newberry Park. In 1993 I was transferred to Tampa Florida. GTE has merged with Bell Atlantic to become Verizon and we are in the process of merging with MCI. My wife , Nancy, works fo...Expand for more
r Continental Airlines so we travel quite a bit to visit our children who are scattered through out the country. I retired from Verizon and my wife retired from Continental Airlines and we moved to San Antonio, Texas. By the end of this year we will have 8 grandchildren, 4 in Denver, 2 in Phoenix, 2 in San Antonio. After substitute teaching for several months, I am now employed by Syslogictech and contracted to Verizon Business. My wife babysits our granddaughter while our daughter teaches bilingual intervention. By the end of 2008 all but one of our children have moved to San Antonio. We now have 10 grandchildren and all of them live here in San Antonio. Our Sunday family dinners are now number 20. In 2010 our last unmaried child was married. As of January 2012 unemployed/retired. I run my son, Scott's, ebay store and play grandpa. In August we will have our number 12 (dozen) grandchild. That will make 6 boys and 6 girls.
